Artist in residence

I offer many different classes in a variety of media. Working with the teacher we can put together an art class that works best for thier class. Each class will include basic art concepts, design ideas and a brief history of the specific artform. I encourage all the students to come up with their own designs making each piece unique.  All of these classes can be tied to a specific curriculum.

TILE MOSAIC-Using tile, glass and stones we design a large or individual wall hanging.  Using broken tiles and other found objects we create a design and attach to board.  Then grout around the tile creation.

CLAY-Pinch pots, formed bowls, pinch animals, monsters, wall hangings, family couch and personal shields (these projects are all 2 sessions).

In classroom 6x6 tile decoration (one session).  All created then fired or glazed.

BOOKS-Basic Japanese sewing techniques, accordion and folded, or more intensive sewn sketchbook or journal.  Making decorative painted papers for covers and insides(class sessions vary with book design).  Could have a printmaking component also.

PRINTMAKING- Mono printing- ink on plates drawn into and printed.

BLOCK PRINTING-carving e-z cut to create images.

SCREEN PRINTING-with cut/torn designs or one class image.

T-SHIRT PRINTING- class shirts with logo and stamping.

MASKS-Personal masks for older class(4-5) .  Made with plaster bandage over face a very intimate process yet awesome!

Then decorated with paint and embellishments.

FUN FLAGS-creating an image out of torn or cut paper we then silk screen it onto a colorful piece of paper and then a colorful piece of fabric to make a set of flags for the classroom.

ECT-Painting on hardboard, polymer clay, wire  sculptures, dream catchers…
